Surprising Things Babies Do In The Womb

- They react to stress : Studies reveal that the more anxious the mom is, the more the fetuses use their left hand to touch their face. This suggests that a mom emotions might impact their movements in subtle and surprising ways. It also suggests moms should really relax.
- They practise facial Expressions :  By 24 weeks,Unborn babies could achieve two dimensional facial expressions such as curling of the mouth. By 36 weeks, unborn babies could achieve more complex facial expressions including pain through lowered eyebrows, wrinkled nose and stretched mouth.
- They Cry
- They recognize nursery Rhymes
- They also recognize songs : Researchers played Twinkle Twinkle Little Star over and over during the moms third trimester. After birth, they played the song again. EEG reaadings via electrodeson the infants head showed greater brain activity for infants who did heard the song  in utero than for those who hadnt. This suggest they could know the tune.
- They anticipate Touch
- They develop tastes for certain foods: Foods that pregnant women eat seep into the amniotic fluid which the fetus gulps down and can taste : One study found out that moms who ate carrot gave birth to babies who love carrots more than babies who didnt get this vegetable much. No wonder I Like Sharwama seems my mom ate  a lot of sharwama.

Why people Snore Most of the Time

Snoring is a sound that comes out in different production levels among males and females. Personally, i dont really like people  sleep snoring around me, especially if the sound production is coming out  at its peak. Snoring is the vibration of the respiratory structures due to obstructed  air movement during breathing while sleeping. It is most often caused by vibration of the soft palate and the uvula. It can be very loud and unpleasant  or mild. The irregular airflow is caused by a blocked passageway which can be
 - Fat gathering in and around the throat - Nasal blockage - Sleeping on ones back causing tongue to drop to the back of the mouth - Tissues at top of the airways touching each other causing vibrations - Throat weakness (especially among adults).
Why Should Snoring Be Taking Serious
It can make the person stylishly ridiculed in public and can cause ones partner to have sleepless night
It also disturbs sleeping patterns and disturbs even the snorer of adequate rest sometimes which can lead to serious long-term health problems.
 Tips for people that snore
The most important treatment for snoring is clearing the blocked passageway. It is essential that if you snore and you are fat, exercise and lose weight which stops the fat from pressing on the throat, snorers that smoke should avoid smoking because it weakens the throat, heavy snorers should avoid sleeping on their back instead their side because it prevents the tongue from blocking the throat. Adults should adopt a healthy and athletic lifestyle to develop good muscle tone and lose weight, avoid alcohol.

Keep that Stomach Flat

Nowadays, there are so many people who pregnant in liters. Their stomach are as heavy as  9 month old pregnant women. Some people see this as a good sign of living. I doubt if they know they are killing themselves. Maintaining a flat stomach is very good because aside  its health benefit, it is easy for the person to fit into any type of clothe as compared to someone with a big round stomach.
For those that will want to have flat stomachs  these are simple solutions to your requests

- Drink a bottle of Water before Eating and after Eating :  Water is not only good for the body. Taking water can trick the body into thinking that it is fuller than it actually is. If one drinks a bottle of water before eating, one will avoid the urge to overeat and also, drinking a bottle of water after eating makes the body have that full feeling.
- Avoid eating 4 Hours before going to Bed : If you eat and immediately you go to bed to sleep, you are not giving  time to let the food digest properly and it doesnt give you opportunity to burn off those calories. The weight of the food is going to sit on you and in a long run, you start noticing bulge in your stomach and it keeps getting bigger.
- Sit Ups when you wake up and before sleeping -  This may sound very difficult to do especially to people who have very big round stomachs. But in a long run, it works if you want to keep that stomach flat. It can be done at home or at the gym.
Avoid Alcohol Intake : This is one very big cause of bulging stomach due to excessive intake of alcohol. Avoid alcohol it does the body no good. Instead you will spend more money to buy more alscohol, when you fall sick due to alcohol you spend more money to treat yourself and alcohol also causes you to have a protruding stomach. So who is losing out ?

Benefits of Stretching

Stretching is the deliberate lengthening of muscles in order to increase muscle flexibility and joint range of motion. Stretching activities are an important part of any exercise or rehabilitation program. They help warm the body up prior to activity thus decreasing the risk of injury as well as muscle soreness.

Some stretching benefits
  •  Increased flexibility and joint range of motion:
Flexible muscles can improve your daily performance. Tasks such as lifting packages, bending to tie your shoes or hurrying to catch a bus become easier and less tiring. Flexibility tends to diminish as you get older, but you can regain and maintain it.
  • Improved circulation:
Stretching increases blood flow to your muscles. Blood flowing to your muscles brings nourishment and gets rid of waste byproducts in the muscle tissue. Improved circulation can help shorten your recovery time if you've had any muscle injuries.
  • Better posture:
Frequent stretching can help keep your muscles from getting tight, allowing you to maintain proper posture. Good posture can minimize discomfort and keep aches and pains at a minimum.
  • Stress relief:
Stretching relaxes tight, tense muscles that often accompany stress.
  • Enhanced coordination:
Maintaining the full range-of-motion through your joints keeps you in better balance. Coordination and balance will help keep you mobile and less prone to injury from falls, especially as you get older.

Health benefits of the African Walnuts

Walnut is a perfect package of protein, healthy fats, fbre and antioxidants. Research has shown that they may boost the health. Walnuts help reduce the risk of prostrate cancer as well as breast cancer. Walnuts also contain the amino acid l-arginine which offers multiple vascular benefits to people with heart disease or those who have increased risk for heart disease due to multiple cardiac risk factors.               Note of warning : If you have herpes, you may want to avoid or limit walnuts as high levels of arginine can deplete amino acid lysine, which can cause herpes recurrences. Walnuts contain omega-3 fat alpha-linolenic acid which is anti-inflammatory and may prevent the formation of pathological blood clots.  Source - Mercola.com

Upcoming International Youth Day

The International Youth day is celebrated by the United Nations on August 12  every year. This year the  theme is #mentalhealthmatters. This is because of different factors affecting the mental health of the youths which causes the youths to behave, do things abnormally and sometimes lead to stigmatization or exclusion in the society. What are you going to do on that day to commemorate the international youth day ? @drmandyy

How he contacted HIV via Watermelon

This young boy on that particular day walked up to a roadside mallam selling fruit to buy Watermelon. Some minutes later, he ate the Watermelon not washing it. Few months after, he fell extremely ill. At the hospital he was tested and in the process was also tested for  HIV and the result was Positive. These boy in question is not promiscuous as he is  still young and now  the big question is How did he contact HIV ? After series of investigation, it was traced back to the road side mallam who sold Watermelon to him. According to eye witnesses around, on that day the said mallam in process of cutting the fruits mistakenly cut his hand and  drops of his blood dropped on the watermelon and the hausa man ignorantly packaged the watermelon fruit without washing which the boy bought and ate without washing. That caused the boys misfortune. Even the mallam did not know he was  infected with the Virus.
A  Warning to everyone, Wash your fruits and food  before Eating to prevent sickness.
Live Healthy Eat Healthy foods.

Foods that damage the skin

Dairy products- Studies linking the consumption of dairy to breakouts date back to the 1960s. In fact, doctors used to treat acne by recommending patients give up milk. But then, as medication to treat pimples became more effective and available, there was less of a focus on preventing breakouts through dietary changes.
When you develop cystic breakouts—those hard, painful, underground blemishes that linger for weeks on the chin, jaw line, and neck area—it might be a sign that you’re getting more dairy in your diet than your body can tolerate. Your skin acts as an excretory system to get rid of things that your body doesn’t agree with, so when you take in too much dairy, it comes out in the form of cystic blemishes in the lower area of the face.
Sea foods- Shrimp, crab, and lobster are high in iodine, which can lead to clogged pores and acne. A better option is fish, which contains omega fatty acids that help improve your skin.
Sugary products- Too salty or sugary foods spike your insulin production, which causes inflammation both inside your body and on your face and ultimately slows down your skin’s ability to regenerate itself. It’s also important to limit your alcohol intake, especially drinks with added sugars like margaritas. They dehydrate your body and make fine lines more pronounced.
“Redness and inflammation will continue and be constant factors if sugar isn’t removed from the diet.
Caffeine
Caffeinated drinks dehydrate you, which does a number on your skin’s elasticity and collagen—and that can make your skin more prone to sagging and wrinkles. If you can’t go without it, make sure to drink the recommended eight glasses of water daily to keep your body and skin hydrated.
Processed foodHighly processed junk food made with additives and preservatives—such as white bread, chips, French fries, soda, and candy—makes your blood-sugar levels spike. This causes your hormones to stimulate excessive oil production, clogging pores and aging the skin.
 #
Note : Moderation is important. if you can not do without some of these foods.. Do not overeat them

There are 5 strains of the virus :  Reston, Sudan, Zaire, Cote D'Ivoire and Tai forest Ebola viruses. Ebola can be transmitted when there is direct and indirect contact with infected body fluid and tissue. Infection  could be through direct or indirect contact with saliva, an infected dead person , from animals which can be reservoirs for the virus examples are chimpanzee, gorillas e.t.c. Inadequate cooking of meats is a predisposing factor to contacting Ebola Virus. However, human to human contact is the common route of infection. Ebola virus broke out in guinea on April 15th. Ebola fever can affect every part of the body through common symptoms like : fever with flu, generalised weakness, sore throat, abdominal pains, joint pains, vomiting , diarrhoea( If you notice these symptoms Please visit an hospital and get tested).

Ask Questions about the Drugs You Ingest

drug : Heap of medicine pills Background made from colorful pills and capsules
Drugs are very important and  some people can do without them. Whether you are buying  a prescribed drug or over the counter drugs, it is always important to ask questions from the doctors or pharmacists which many people don't do.
Ask if you are confused
- The name of the drug or medication. Master the names no matter how long or complex
- Why you are taking the drugs. You should know the purpose of taking the medication because knowing why your doctor recommended the drug will ensure that the medication is taken appropriately.
-  What effect the drugs will have on you, when are you expected to see results.
-  How much, when and how the drugs should be taken. Follow directions well.
-  What are the side effects. Personally for me when I take chloroquine to treat malaria my body. itches me for 5 days. Ask for side effects of the drugs and which is important to contact your doctor.
- Ask your doctor what to do if you miss or skip a dose.
- Are there certain types of food we should abstain from or eat during use of the drugs. This is because some foods can interfere with the effectiveness of the drug.
- Are there other alternatives to that drug probably its cheaper and will it work the same function as the originally prescribed drug .

That simple Exercise can empower your Lungs

Its no news again that one of our favourite and talented gospel Nigerian Singer Kefee died of Lung infection after collapsing on an airplane in the U.S . That's how important the lungs is. Our lungs must function effectively for one to live healthy. Increasing the lung capacity is important because what we are doing is empowering the lungs to improve breathing and oxygen exchange thus, it gives way for body expansion. We can improve and advance  our lungs capacity by breathing and with physical exercises, healthy diets and a modified lifestyle.
Physical exercises like push ups, sit ups and the exercise you think its best for your body are necessary for improved lung capacity especially among the elderly ones. This will make the lungs work harder resulting in greater lung capacity. Also, actively involving oneself in sports like soccer, hockey, volleyball, basketball and the likes will do your lungs a big favour.

Pot Bellies and its Risk

Sometimes I laugh when I see men who are 3-6 months heavy with big protruding round stomach. Now I  began to wonder that did it come naturally or they themselves caused it. Well lets find out.
Pot Belly or Abdominal obesity  is when excessive abdominal fat around the stomach and abdomen has built up to the extent that it is likely to have a negative impact on health. In these part of the world, obesity is not really attended to as a serious health issue. The belief is people who take in alcoholic drink will have pot belly Yes it is a predisposing factor to have a pot belly stomach. But do you know that consumption of food (Junk food) without burning them out is also a leading cause .Potbellies comprise two types of fat that is, a soft potbelly is made largely of what is called subcutaneous fat, meaning fat that lies beneath the skin, just above the muscle tissue. That is why it is soft - your hand is pushing against a layer of fat.
A hard potbelly has more of what is referred to as visceral fat, which is fat between your muscles and organs. Hard bellies place you at greater risk of cardiovascular disease and intestinal disorders. The reason is that the fat is deep inside, pushing against your internal organs and disrupting the normal working of your digestive and circulatory systems.

A point to note:. Pot belly raises your cholesterol level and increases chances of coronary-artery disease.  why: your body burns fat continually . Most fat is absorbed from its storage place directly into your bloodstream, which transports it to wherever it is needed for energy. Unfortunately, your liver sees this high concentration of fat passing through and responds by producing excess LDL cholesterol (the "bad" cholesterol that blocks up your arteries).
There are several ways to stop fat collecting around your stomach region - cut dietary fat, which the body stores around the stomach region, exercise to burn fat and try  lift weights to increase your resting metabolism . Also, avoid big meals, smoking of cigarettes, strengthen your back by exercising it this act can shrink pot bellies.
Note : Edible compounds called phytoestrogens (found in plant foods such as soy products, bean sprouts, seeds and nuts) help distribute fat evenly on the body instead of letting it lump in one place.

THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW ABOUT BODY ODOUR

Body odour is a normal phenomenon that affects everybody. As long as there is life, there is tendency for one to have body odour  and smell if one does not take care of his/her body. People wake up as early as possible in the morning to begin their daily activities. Body odour is as important as eating because nobody will like to associate with something or somebody that stinks.
What you need to know
- There are two different Sweat gland : they are called the eccrine and aprocrine glands. Eccrine glands are all over the body and produce watery sweay to keep the body cool. Aprocrine glands are located where hair follicles are concentrated like the groin, armpit and scalp. THE SWEAT THERE IS WAXY AND FATTY from the lipids they secrete.
-Your Hair can enhance the Odour : The sweat from the apocrine glands does not create the smell. It is the stench-causing bacteria that creates the smell. The bacteria causing the stench  happens to be attracted to the sweat. The bacteria breaks down the fats then the bad aroma surfaces. The more hair you have, then the more surface area bacteria has to cling to which keeps the smell smelly.
-Food affect Body Smell : The common garlic, onions are body odour stimulators that can worsen body odour.( Avoid them if you have body odour).
Stress produces more Sweat : Am sure you have seen people with drenched armpits even before they begin the days activity.
Overwashing can make it worse :Using anti-bacterial soaps to wash smelly part of the body is good and essential. But dont over do it.

Happy New Month

WOooW!! Its a New Month. Believe it in the month of  July there shall be no lack,no loss and no limitation In Jesus Name Amen. These i pray for all my readers who reads this piece In Jesus Name Amen.

Signs of Protein Deficiency

Protein is an essential class of food which some people deprive themselves of unintentionally. Protein is as important as Carbohydrate that  people especially workers take in on a daily basis. One of proteins most critical function is keeping the blood sugar steady.  There are some signs that manifest when one is not taking in enough protein(deficiency of Protein) .                                                                                          . .  - Cravings for Sweet things : When one starts craving for sweets and one is never full its a warning sign of protein deficiency. Protein keeps the blood sugar level steady. So if one eats a strong carbohydrate meal in the morning, one gets energy fast, then after sometime energy begins to wane thats where the cravings come  in.                                                               -  The brain feels foggy : This is when one consistently feels that the brain is not working at its maximum level. A balanced blood sugar is important for staying focused. When one protein deprived and the glucose levels flunctuate, one can feel foggy.                                         - When your hair starts falling out( Ladies) : This is a sign of protein deficiency.                    .         - When one feels Weak : There are so many things that can make one weak and protein deficiency is one of them. Protein is an essential building block of the muscle. If it not enough, it affects the muscles and as a result one can feel weak and is unable to do the normal exercises one does regularly.                                                                                                   - Getting sick constantly : Protein is needed to build all the compounds in our immune system. If one seems to catch cold or have infections  often and you always in good health it could be protein deficiency.                                                                                                                     source : daily mail

Amazing Health EffectS of Cuddling

cuddling is a means of physical affection  because it garners closeness, affection and increases happiness. Research has proved that Cuddling is more appealing than loading up Vitamin C. Why ?

Why do we Blink our eyes Always

We all blink.  Now tell me who does not blink. No part of the body is useless. The average person blinks s 15-20 times per minute frequently that our eyes are closed for roughly 10% of our waking hours overall. Blinking is the rapid closing and opening of the eyelid. It is an essential function of the eye that helps spread tears across and remove irritants from the surface of the eyes shielding the eye from foreign bodies.
Blinking provides moisture to the eye by irrigation using tears secreting from the tear duct and a lubricant the eyes secrete. The eyelid provides suction across the eye from the tear duct to the entire eyeball to keep it from drying out.
Each blink is an interval of 2–10 seconds; actual rates vary by individual averaging around 10 blinks per minute . However, do you ever wonder after reading a book or watching a long movie the eyes gets fatigued ? It is when the eyes are focused on an object for an extended period of time, such as when reading, the rate of blinking reduces to 3 to 4 times per minute. This is the major reason that eyes dry out and become fatigued when reading. Blinking is an essential activity. If you notice your rate of blinking is more than what is scientifically approved and you feel uncomfortable, Please visit an Eye Doctor today.

Things you never knew about your Eye Brows

People spend a lot of time grooming their Eye Brows because it beautifies the face. I doubt if some people know the importance of the eye brow.Personally i love grooming my Eye Brows. Those little hairs above our eyes play very important roles.
-The eye brow is designed to help us see because it  acts like an umbrella preventing moisture hereby keeping our eyes dry from sweat or rain by diverting the flow of water.
- The average person has about 250 hairs per eyebrow averaging a lifespan of four months i.e it takes 4 months to fall out and new growth to fill in.
- Brows are voice controlled they signal emotion. As ones voice rises so do the eye brows and when one is shocked or excited, the eye brows move in a way that is symmetrical to each other.
- They are also vital in facial recognition. Looking at the eye brow is one of the factors that can tell where the person is from.
- Your brows say more than you know.
