Dont start your week with Envy


Envy an emotional state when you feel you lack what another person has like your neighbour has more  money, cars, houses, material things that you desire and you don't have. It can also be an hidden emotion kept under a smile so others don't see it. There is so much envy in the world especially if someone is doing great for him/herself. The fact is that Envy causes Unhappiness. " You just think it over" When you continue to envy, there is 70% probability that you wont achieve your goals. Envy is poisonous. The bible  in Proverbs 14:30 it says " A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones".
Envy can create chemical stress in the body through the effects of the hormones adrenaline which can affect the cardiovascular and digestive systems.
Simple steps to overcome that Envy
- You need know that you can control it.
-Deconstruct these feelings concentrate on yourself instead of worrying about your neighbour and friend that has so much money or cars. Get up every day and focus on the things that would elevate your status.

How often do you wash your towels


Everybody is always busy doing various important things or trying to meet up with appointments in the office or with clients. Its always Busy Busy Busy. In your busy schedule, have you thought of taking time out to wash your towels.Its so funny that on my own research, some people have use their towels for 1 Year consistently just like MTN Yellow recharge Card. They never wash or even change.
Washing of the towels is very important to maintain good hygiene and freshness. Fact is that Towels that are washed regularly will always last longer.

Simple Tips on care for your Towel
- Towels should be washed separately. Do not wash with other clothings.
-Wash your towels with hot water and rinse with cold water. These helps removes bacteria effectively.
-Wash towels with detergents and dry outside under sunlight killing bacteria due to the energy of the sun
- Bend towels to give a break from being overused.
-Separate towels if you are washing different colours White and Red to avoid bleaching
- Do not bleach your towels with chlorine just to make it clean in the process, it weakens the fibre of the towel causing it to wear and tear and get slack.
-After use hang your towels to air dry do not fold and keep in your cupboard or box.

Note : Towels properly cared for should last for 5 - 10 years.

Are Cockcroaches really a Health Risk

Cockroaches are a class of insects that look very innocent. They move about from place to place and they are found in almost every home in Nigeria and Africa. Do you know that they cause a lot of havoc let me say (Undetected Havoc) because you will just wonder why some things are not in place or why one falls sick. They invade human dwellings and are considered as pests.
And Yes, Cockroaches can spread approximately 33 kinds of bacteria, 6 kinds of parasitic worms and 7 other human pathogens. They can  pick up all kinds of germs on the spines of their legs.
 From bathroom floors,  waste, places where they walk through is unlimited. Germs they eat from decaying matter or sewage  will remain in/on them longer. It’s unknown why germs can last longer on an affected roach than germs that are exposed to cleaning agents or natural elements.
Infact  just think about the journey they made before they walked across your tables,beds counter tops, cooking surfaces and most important Your food(Damn!!!!).
In the world today, there are about 4000 different species of cockcroahes(God is Awesome). Their reproductive rate is very fast which will lead to populations which will spread diseases and cause allergies that will unfortunately trigger asthma.
I know that question will be ringing in your heart how cockroaches cause trouble. Imagine if a cockroach has gone through 50 houses, streets, gutters and even waste dumps in the process taking all sorts of germs and bacteria and the cockroach finally lands in your house walks across your food plates, tables ,your clothes. There is 99% probability of causing infection.

What you need know
- Cockroaches can enter your home in many different ways, from the outside through cracks on the walls, roofs, sewer and drain pipes. We even bring them in on products like  bags, boxes, purses and on our person!
- Your house is an ideal breeding ground for  cockroaches. With plenty of food, warmth, water and nesting sites, they can remain active all year round. Cockroaches reproduce quickly. For every one you see there can be many, many more hiding and multiplying behind your walls.
- The debris created by cast-off cockroach skins, dead bodies and droppings can aggravate allergies, especially in children and sensitive individuals. Cockroaches are better at hiding than you are at finding them, and their eggs are naturally protected from  insecticides. Without special equipment, materials and know-how, cockroach control can be a losing battle.
Prevention
Store food in covered  containers, clear all waste food and liquid spillages do not leave overnight,  clear off old papers and ensure dustbin is well protected, fumigate the house regularly.

The use of earphones/earpieces is not new in the society. Lovers of music enjoy its benefit and I am not an exception. It takes you on a different level when you are listening to that love song and your loved one is beside you. Also, when you are lonely or you working and you  want to ease the tension, the earphone /earpiece can be perfect for that moment. But chill, do you know that no matter how good a thing is it has its own negative effect( Bad side). Some people misuse the earphone/earpiece to the extent of causing damage and life threatening issues.

Some of the effects on the misuse of earphones/earpieces include

- Hearing loss : Listening to loud music can lead to loss of hearing. According to Dr. Brian Fligor, the director of Diagnostic Audiology at Boston Children’s Hospital, people who listen to music at volumes exceeding 90 decibels, can suffer temporary loss of hearing. Sounds in this range can eventually cause permanent hearing loss, especially to teenagers who wear their earphones for long periods of time.
- Ear Infections : Since earphones are made for two ears, people will always share them. According to the Manchester Evening News, regular use of earphones can enhance the growth of harmful bacteria, and sharing or borrowing earphones may just cause the transfer someone else’s bacteria to your ears.
- Decibel Ranges : Decibels are the measurement of loudness. If you listen to music at a restrained volume, then you don’t have to worry. However, if you listen to music at the highest volume possible might want to consider the following warnings. If you listen to your music using earphones at 85 decibels, you can get permanent hearing loss if you listen up to eight hours a day. At 88 decibels, you can get the same result at just four hours of listening time. Now for the painful truth, you can lose your hearing in just 15 minutes if you listen at 100-105 decibels.
Words of advice
Do not use earphones that are inserted directly into your ear canals because, even though they can make the music sound better, they enhance the chances of hearing loss will also increase. You should also try taking 5-minute breaks every hour. This will help your ears recover from being bombarded by concentrated sound waves. Last but not least, if you can use speakers at a moderate level instead, then do so because they will disperse the sound waves and not cause as much direct damage to your ear drums.

Some unhygienic practises of Food sellers.

         

Everybody wants to make money. Everybody likes money. The food industry is one of the biggest industry in the world because we can not do without food especially me I don't know about you ooo. In Nigeria, there abound many food sellers.  They are divided into different categories we have Tush sellers(Classy sellers), Average sellers and lastly, Mama Put .
          From my experience, I have noticed that the tush sellers and average sellers always try to maintain optimum hygiene though, not all. Some have fallen below standard. But what of Mama Put ? We have so many Mama Put around that some people cant do without them  like students, averagely paid workers, labourers and the likes who visit Mama Put restaurants on a daily basis. Some of the Mama Put  mode of operandi is nothing to write home about. The way they handle utensils like the knife a very important kitchen machine can lead to contamination of the raw food materials.
           For instance, some food sellers expose their soup just in a way to attract customers . Aside that, it tends to attract flies and a host of all other insects. Germs, dust polluted air will all settle in that pot of soup. Now you can see Two troubles One God.
           If the environment and the sellers are untidy every time you visit your Mama Put its a warning signal to quit if they don't change. Use of previously used dirty water to wash plates. Some food sellers can be lazy to change water they use for washing plates except for those that have flowing water from the tap.

Note : Anytime you are hungry and you must eat in a restaurant, don't  jump at the food. If you don't eat the food at that moment you will not die.  Consider the hygienic situation of the food and environment. Also ensure that it is ok by looking out for the things I mentioned above and other things not mentioned. It could be a warning signal.

Food is good but can be harmful when one ingests bad food.











Do you wash your hands at all ?


Washing your hands is just as important as drinking water because it can protect us especially our young ones against infections and diseases. Even the ancient people believe that washing of your hands is therapeutic. Why do you think the muslims will always wash their hands, legs, mouth ? It makes them clean  and confident.
Washing of your hands is very effective. It has prevented the spread of many types of germs and it is still preventing . Germs are everywhere in your room, parlour, kitchen, road, hospitals ,schools e.t.c. and we are vulnerable to them. Clean hands can do wonders.
Its so sad that many people don't wash their hands even after visiting the toilet. After the use of Toilet Roll they feel they are good to go. Do you do these ? Stop it and wash your hands after using the toilet.
Right time to wash your hands
- Wash your hands before eating... Don't be in a haste to eat with dirty hands. If not ?
- Before preparing food .... These could prevent contamination of food with microorganisms like Vibrio cholera.
- Very important....After caring for a sick person and /or treating of wound, wash your hands.
- After using the toilet or changing your childs or your aunty's or uncle's  daughter's diapers.
- After you dispose your waste and touching  animals like goats, dogs.. Many  people especially children after playing with their pet animal,  rarely wash their hands. Its very bad. Do you know that one can contact Bacillus anthracis  when in contact with a goat. Be careful.
-When you sneeze or cough, wash your hands

Note : Always wash your hand with clean water and soap, wash off and dry your hands.

Starting a new week for many people looks like a difficult task. This is due to the daily activities that comes with each working day. Aside, engagements and a host of others take our time during the weekends and we have little or no time to recoup lost time leaving us weak and empty.

The Norm of sleeping on your stomach


Sleeping on the stomach according to a recent survey is a very popular position and is very difficult to change. So many of us after the day activities sleep in a particular position and wake up the next morning in a different position. Do you experience it ? Not to worry it is normal.
But you must know that sleeping on your stomach  and placing your Neck( cervical vertebrae) in an incorrect position can lead to
- Neck pain
- Headaches
- Back problems

If you must sleep on your stomach, ensure that your neck is rightly placed to avoid the above problems.

You just have to know how to rescue a drowning victim



We all want to have fun at every opportunity we get especially during weekends, public holidays and festive periods. As the saying goes " Anything can happen" even in moments of having fun. In most cases, people that drown in pools, beaches could have been rescued but the people around and even those that can swim don't have the Idea or Skill on how to rescue the drowning victim.

Guys these are just few tips that can come in handy
- You have to identify a drowning person. signs are the person is unable to call for help, have a vertical position in the water, body will be low in the water with the mouth above the surface.
- You have to alert people around if you are the only person present so that other people can be aware of the situation.
- Try and get a  flotation device if available like a rescue tube. This will allow the drowning victim to have something to hold on to.
- Begin the rescue by entering the water and approach the victim from the behind. A drowning victim can also drown the rescuer unintentionally in a bid to escape. Approach from behind.
-  Once you are behind the victim, place your arms under each of the armpit of the drowning victim. Bend your arms back and hold tight. Suppose you are using  a flotation device, keep it between you and the victim across your chest.
- Reassure the drowning victim calmly and swim calmly and slowly while pulling the victim
- Once you have gotten to safety, seek medical assistance.

Note : If you can not swim don't attempt to rescue a drowning victim you might or will get drowned. Instead call for help.

The use of various exotic phones is trending seriously that some people will always want the latest phones. Am not saying it is bad. Infact it is very  good because change is necessary. But the use of phone has gone beyond father and son relationship. Some people are so addicted to their phones that they can do without it "to eat,drink,bath" Lol ! they sleep with it morning,afternoon and night.
Do you know that sleeping with your mobile has been confirmed to release harmful radiation which is the primary cause of Brain Cancer.
Science has shown that keeping your phone close to you for a long period of time  can cause headaches, muscle pains and even cancer. But there is no guarantee of having the illness but there is  a greater probability of increasing the risk of having the illnesses.

Note : Ensure you place your phone some few metres away from you or  preferably switching off your phone .

Why you have to be Extra Careful at the Beach



I want you to know that visiting the beach can be fun and exciting. But do you know that  one has to be very careful especially during the rainy season  to overzealous youths who feel they can swim the whole of River Niger. My friends  Ocean Surges have risen according to Metereologists . Even the best of swimmers have been swept away only to find their bodies floating after some time.
Guys anytime you and your friends or families visit the beach always take caution. Many have gone so be careful even while having fun..

My Bathing Sponge!!Your bathing Sponge!!!!


Do you ever realise that even when you bath you still find out that there is still some form of dirt on your body. And you know what so many people think they don't bath well and so they bath again and again but yet there is no change.  My sponge ? Your sponge ? What do you think ?
The sponge either synthetic or locally made whether used regularly or not can harbour germs like bacteria and can even grow molds, these organisms can grow quickly and spread to your skin. Even using a sponge not properly cleaned can promote the growth of molds. Many people just continue to use and re-use their sponges for a long period of time without proper rinsing or washing.

How do you treat your Sponge ? That's a funny question but seriously how do you treat your Sponge ?
After using your sponge, flap it twice or thrice it depends to remove excess water and hang it in a well-ventilated area to dry.
You can also disinfect your bath sponge using your discretion.

Alarm Clock

You see so many people depend on alarm clock to get up early in the morning for work or school especially in cities of the world like Lagos, New York. Do you know that the use of alarm clocks causes disruption of the natural circadian rhythm. No wonder so many people are always tired at work because your body behaves poorer and increases risk of obesity. Researchers have discovered that alarm waking you up  is bad for your heart. It raises blood pressure and puts you in a full alert situation that is not good.

If you must wake up early then the adage that asserts " Early to bed, Early to rise" must be followed. These are good ways to maintain a good health.

What you need to know about Moringa olefeira


Moringa olefeira is the most widely cultivated  species of the genus  Moringa, which is the only genus in the family Moringaceae. The English common names include Moring, drumstick tree from the appearance of the long, slender, triangular seed pods . The tree itself is slender with drooping branches that grow to approximately 10m in height. It is grown in the West, East and South Africa, tropical Asia, Latin America, the Carribean ,Florida and the Pacific islands.
 Infact all parts of the Moringa tree are useful and edible. Many uses for Moringa  they include : domestic cleaning agents( crushed leaves), honey(flower nectar),fertilizer(seed cake) and so on.
Moringa seed oil also known as Ben oil is a sweet non-drying oil that resists rancidity. It has been used for salads, fine machine lubrication and in the manufacture of perfume and health care products.

Facts about Moringa olefeira

- Moringa trees have been used to combat malnutrion especially among infants and nursing mothers. Three NGOs have advocated Moringa as "Natural nutrition for the tropics". Moringa leaves contain more Vitamin A than carrots, more Calcium than milk, more Vitamin C than oranges and more Potassium than bananas.

-Benefits of Moringa in disease treatment and prevention that come from either dietary or topical administration of Moringa preparations (extracts, oils, creams, powders) are not quite so well known. Although traditional medicine references attest to its curative power. Unfortunately, many of these reports of efficacy in human beings are not supported by placebo controlled randomized clinical trials nor have they been published in high visibility journals.

- Moringa having been valued for their cancer preventive potential the proof required by modern medicine has not been realized because the prevention of cancer has not been adequately demonstrated in human subjects
